Introducing Shine!

Hello Everyone! I’m a little late starting a blog for my boy, but here’s his amazing story!

Β  Shine is a 3 1/2 month old Red Merle Australian Shepherd. My boyfriend and I live in Iowa and traveled to Texas to pick him up! πŸ™‚ On January 6th, Shine was getting ready to go cut some wood with my boyfriend. My boyfriend had the window to his truck down and as he was backing out Shine dove out the window and ended up getting is legs under a tire. πŸ™ My boyfriend rushed Shine to the vet and I was close behind. Our vet is not a 24hr clinic so our vet rushed to our aid. Shine had lost A LOT of blood and we were so worried he wasn’t going to make it.

Β  Our vet told us his leg was beyond repair, it had to be amputated. She told us to go home and she would notify us after his surgery what the verdict of our poor pup would be. We got a call that evening that Shine’s front leg was taken. He had a large scrape on his remaining front leg and his back leg was sprained, but he would be fine with proper healing time! πŸ™‚

Β  Shine’s first week of recovery was difficult. He was just learning to walk as a quadpawd and he got thrown a curveball! At first he wasn’t moving his front leg as he should, he was knuckling over his paw and I was (am) a very worried Mom! It turned out Shine just needed a little time to get back into the swing of things! He is doing so well now!! It’s hard for me to keep him calmmost of the time! πŸ™‚

Β The Tripawds Family is AMAZING!Β I was in a panic and trying to find someone to talk to about the way I was feeling and I got SO MUCH great advice from this site! SO glad to be a part of my family and try and help others the best that I can sharing Shine’s story alongside others. More pictures to come! Thanks to everyone! πŸ™‚
